Merry Christmas!

We are treated to music by the University Brass Band, playing popular Christmas pices. Then, the Primary School violins play a number of pieces. A dozen "Santas" ran around, spraying chocolates on all. The University students entertain us all with Christmas carols, interpersed with some explanations.

At the end of the program, Swami receives arathi.

Merry Christmas!

After Bhagavan Baba comes in and takes His place on the verandah, we have an evening of music, mostly Christmas music, by devotees.

Near the end, Swami materializes a necklace for the conductor, and she comes forward so that He can put it around her neck.

The evening ends with a few bhajans by the college boys.

Morning Festivities, 83rd Birthday

83rd Birthday

Four bands and a group of boys chanting slokas precede Swami into Sai Kulwant Hall, and Swami makes the rounds. Once Swami is on the verandah, some college boys sing, and prasad is passed out to everyone in Sai Kulwant Hall —throughout we get Swami's darshan.

Swami goes toward the back of the verandah, and we see Him cutting several birthday cakes. The celebration ends with Arathi and Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu.

Sahasra Poorna Chandra Darshana
Santhi Mahotsavam, 17 Nov 2008

Day 3 (conclusion)

This yajna is performed to commemorate a person's living to see 1000 full moons. Because the time between full moons averages 29.531 days, this happens some time after the completion of 81 years.

The yajna is conducted for the benefit of the individual. In this case, the individual is the Avatar of the age, and the yajna was performed for a greater purpose: to bring peace and happiness in the world and help redeem man from the cycle of birth and death. Continued below.

Day 2

Continued from above. The yajna, which was conducted in Hillview Stadium in the view of thousands, had two phases: a preparatory phase and an executive phase. In the first phase, there are various rituals, with holy ablutions being offered to Lord Shiva at the end. One part of the executive phase includes the individual occupying a throne positioned in a prominent place —hence Bhagavan Baba on the Golden Chariot. Continued below.

Education Exhibition Inauguration, 20 Jul 2008

Education Exhibition

Bhagavan Baba inaugurated the Exhibition in the Purnachandra at 11AM on 20 July just before the start of the Sri Sathya Sai World Foundation Education Conference. We see His entrance to the Exhibition, including lighting a flame. He then looks at the whole Exhibition, with various narrators explaining to Him the panels that He is looking at (there were panels on Sai Institutes, Sai Schools, SSE, and SSEHV). Bhagavan also watched a video on Sai Education that had just been completed.

Austrian Hallelujah, 19 Jul 2008

Sai Choir of Austria

The Sai Choir of Austria gave a rousing performance, singing 9-10 songs in German, their mother tongue. We hear Mozart's Hallelujah. The song "Wenn wir erklimme" expresses the idea of climbing a mountain to reach the goal of merging. Many of the songs used yodeling, a particularly unique Austrian-Germanic way of singing.

This intriguingly beautiful and different concert enthralled everyone!

Easwaraama Day, 6 May 2008

Easwaraama Day, with discourse

Sathya Sai Baba is in Prasanthi Nilayam for Easwaramma Day after a gap of many years.

Sai Baba spends some time at the holy mausoleum where the mortal remains of His earthly parents are interred. He returns to Sai Kulwant Hall and listens to vedic chanting and bhajans by His students.

In the evening, Dr. G.Venkataraman, former Vice-Chancellor of Sri Sathya Sai University, address the gathering in Sai Kulwant Hall.

Sivarathri, 6-7 Mar 2008

Sivarathri!

The college students sing bhajans on these two days. We see lots of Swami.

Swami is wheeled through Sai Kulwant Hall, and even outside in order to grant darshan to those outside and those preparing a meal for students. Swami takes the time to talk to many students.

We see the food being prepared and then eaten by the students, who sang all night long.

Sivarathri, 6 Mar 2008

Sivarathri!

We have a long darshan, as Bhagavan comes into Sai Kulwant Hall and moves through the crowds and onto the veranda. In the background is instrumental music.

Sri V.Srinivasan, All India President of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, addresses the gathering. He points out: although ‘Ratri’ or night is usually associated with ignorance, Maha Sivarathri is unique because it is the night of ‘Siva’ or auspiciousness, where the finite individual merges in the infinite Godhead.
