85th Birthday celebrations
took place in the stadium. Swami came about 11:30AM. Speeches, singing, gaiety were the order of the day.
Hon'ble External Affairs Minister SM Krishna, Union Ministers Sushil Kumar Shinde and Vilasrao Deshmukh, Governor of Andhra Pradesh ESL Narasimhan, Governor of Punjab Shivraj Patil, Dy.CM Tamilnadu Stalin, Union Minister Virbhadra Singh, Minister from Andhra Pradesh Dr. J. Geeta Reddy, and Industrialist Sri Ratan Tata were among the host of dignitaries present on the occasion.
The Vidya Vahini project to help rural schools give values-based education was announced, a new significant project by Swami.
In the evening activities included singing by past and current college boys, fireworks, and a lasar show.

The Alwars
were Tamil poet saints of south India who lived between sixth and ninth centuries and espoused devotion to Lord Vishnu through their compositions, singing love and surrender to the Lord.
These four days of festivities and rituals include chanting of mantras 10,000 times, bhajans, and rituals such as a Maha Sudarshana Homam, a fire ritual aimed at world peace (on the third morning), performed toward Sri Chakkarathalwar, who is also known as Sudarshan Alwar.
